Review: Lady Gaga - Fame

A little over a year ago Lady Gaga came out with her first perfume callled: Fame. I got it for christmas last year. It's strange how this black liquid is transparent on your skin. Lady Gaga and her team to their best to keep this a secret. I have no clue how it works, but what I do know is that it smells amazing. I use this perfume almost everyday. It smells sweet and mysterious. Wanna see a breakdown of Fame? Keep reading.

Books Books Books!: The Fault In Our Stars - John Green

 http://media.npr.org/assets/bakertaylor/covers/t/the-fault-in-our-stars/9780525478812_custom-7eb6cc16a8a3f2266865895e1718ac9e9d6232e0-s6-c30.jpg

"I'm a grenade," I said again. "I just want to stay away from people and read books and think and be with you guys because there's nothing I can do about hurting you; you're too invested, so just please let me do that, okay? I'm not depressed. I don't need to get out more. And I can't be a regular teenager, because I'm a grenade."

This is how Hazel Grace Lancaster describes herself in the Fault in our stars. Hazel Grace is a terminal cancer patient, dispite the medication that has bought her a few years. Hazel has accepted the fact that she doesn't have very long to live anymore and doesn't exactly do anything outside of going to college and watch America's Next Top Model. Her mother thinks that Hazel might be depressed and sends her off to Support Group. Where she meets Augustus Waters. This gorgeous boy is a cancer surviver, though it cost him his leg.

Hazel's life is going to be turned upside down by this boy. She falls in love with him and he grants her his "Wish" by taking her to Amsterdam to meet her hero, Peter van Houten, who has written her all time favorite book An Imperial Affliction. The conversation with mr. Van Houten doesn't go very well, since he turned out to be a pathetic alcholic man. Other than that they had a great time in Amsterdam.

Spoiler Alert

While in Amsterdam, Augustus tells Hazel that he doesn't have very long to live anymore. His cancer came back and has spreaded everywhere across his body. He died one month after he's told her this. Leaving her and Isaac (his best friend, who went blind during the book, due to cancer) broken behind.

The book ends with a beautiful letter written by Augustus, for Hazel.

End of Spoilering Business

This is a very good book. I didn't get bored once while reading this. Just when you think you've figured it out, something else happens. The plot twists are awesome. I hated it when I had to stop reading because I wanted to know what would happen next.
You can really feel the emotions that Hazel has. This book is very alive and there. I felt like I was part of the book and for me that's a sign of a good book. Plain books don't grab my attention so much and sometimes it even takes weeks for me to finish a book like that. FYI I read this book in two days.

I loved John Green, the writer of this book, before I even started reading this book. He's part of the VlogBrothers and I love their sense of humor. That made me really curious for this book. My expectations were very high and, well, I was not disappointed.

This rounds up my thoughts on the book. I'd say it's a great book to read and I even got my boyfriend hooked on it.

Review: Kicks Nailpolish

When on vacation I'm always looking out for brands that we don't have in holland. When I was in Norway I saw this brand called Kicks and I decided to buy some nailpolish to try out. Kicks is sold in Norway, Finland and Sweden and is the leading beauty-retailer in the nordic region. Sounds good enough right? Well, let's get on with my opinion.

21 things that make me smile :)

Whenever I'm not feeling well I make lists to cheer me up. Today I want to share one of those lists with you. This one is called: What makes me smile? They are not in order of preference btw ;)

  1. Grumpy cat (and other cute animals). What's not to love about cute animals? Grumpy Cat tops the scale with ultimate grumpy cuteness.

Review: Essie - Bouncer, it's me

Here's a quick review of Essie's Bouncer, it's me. This beautiful royal blue colour really intriged me and I couldn't resist.

This polish needs 3 coats for it to be semi-opaque. Also, it has a matte-ish finish. So, if you want shine you'll need a topcoat.

Bouncer, it's me cost 9.99 euros

Do you like the Royal Blue colour?

What I haven't told you yet: My Red Hair

Soooo... There is a little thing that I haven't told you yet. Not that I didn't want to tell you, but I simply didn't bother. I do want to tell you about it though, since I'm very content with it. This summer I dyed my hair a bright red. I used the l'Oreal Sublime Mouse in the colour Cherry Kiss. Here's the result:

Do you like it? :)

Did you ever dye your hair? and if so, what colour?

We all have that one favorite beauty item that we keep using over and over again. For me this product is a mascara by Clinique. It's their High Impact mascara. It's the best mascara I've tried and that is also why I've been using this particullar one for over a year now. The one I'm currently using is my fourth one. Can you imagine? :P
Anyways, today I wanted to tell you all about this mascara and why I love it so much.

The Importance Of Sunscreen

Way too many people take sunscreen for granted. Too many people don't use sunscreen to protect their skin from sundamage and it really bothers me. So today I want to contend and stress why it's so important to use an SPF. I may appear to be a sunscreen-nazi (and trust me I've been called that name before) but I want to get it out there. Here we go:

Quick look: My Smartphone Cover

Today I want to give you a quick look at my phone cover. I recently bought a new phone and I wanted to protect it unlike my old phone which has scratches and blotches all over. For those of you that are curious, I now own a Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini. My boyfriend helped me choose because I'm terrible at that. And so far I'm in love with it. Haven't faced any problems yet. But enough raving about my phone. Let's take a quick look at my cover.

So this is my Iron Man phone cover. I think it's totally awesome. I love anything marvel, but iron man is secretly my favorite.
The phone cover was about 20-25 euros. Not particularly cheap, but I think it's worth it. My phone cover is not so standard which makes me stand out a little more :P plain jane speaking.

To finish this short post of, here's a picture of me taking a picture of my I-just-ran-a-5k-self with my phone in my hands. Enjoy:

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter

Body butter is an absolute must for my very dry skin. The winter may be over but my skin's still dried out. That's why I decided to add a new body butter to my very small collection. I knew it had got to be one from TBS, since those are my favourite. Together with my boyfriend, I travelled to Amsterdam and let him decide which one to get. After him debating for a while, he chose the Satsuma one. I like it a lot and I'm going to tell you exactly why.

DIY: Glitter Glasses

While cleaning my room, I've found that I have 3 Real-3D glasses that are pretty worthless since I'm not spending much time in the cinema. Instead of throwing them away, I decided to make a quick and cute DIY out of them. Enjoy.

Why People Care So Much (About Other People's Thoughts) pt. 1

Hey Sexy Salamanders!

Since I’m at the start of an hour long trip in the train to my father, I thought it would be time to make another random – type of post. I wanted to know why people care so much about other people’s thoughts. I mean why are we so frightened to do certain things because we believe other people will have certain thoughts about it?

My Favourite Apps!

Well hello there, powergirls!

Today I want to talk about my favourite apps. My phone and I haven't been separated since it's the way to talk to my boyfriend when he's away. If you're using your phone that much you'll start to look for apps. Or at least I did. I've found some apps in the last couple of months that I use a lot and without further ado I'll present them to you (that rhymed):

1.  WhatsApp.
WA is basically an online messenger that you can use to send free texts via WiFi. I've been using it for quite a while now and except for a few bugs, I love it. I can text my boyfriend whenever I want and I can easily send him pictures. It's not connected to facebook or whatever, the only thing you need is their phone number.

2. The Youtube App.
I love listening to music, so the youtube app is kinda perfect for me. Just play my favourite songs out load while running or brushing my teeth. I think I use youtube so much for music since I don't have spotify. A thing that kind of bothers me though is the fact that it can't find all songs I look for.

3. Facebook.
No description needded.

4. Nu.nl  and NOS
These are dutch apps with news articles and videos. Helpful for keeping me up to date.

5. My HIIT Timer.
This is a plain and simple tabata timer I use when running. I love exercising (running in particular) so this app comes in very handy :)

6.  Meta.
This is just an app I use to see my school scedule and my grades.

That's it! I don't use a lot of apps actually. My most used apps are WhatsApp and Youtube. I use the rest equally.

5 Must Have Basics (I Don't Own)

As a girl who loves fashion a lot, I'm very well aware of the so called 'must have basics'. Basic clothing pieces every girl should have in her closet. It seems that you always look fashionable with those pieces and can build your entire style around them. But like a lot of other girls, I don't own every single basic out there. And before I start to tell you what all of these basics are, why you should have them and how to style them.  I thought it would be fairer to tell you what I don't own myself.

#1: A Little Black Dress.

This appears to be a very important basic. You can dress it up or dress it down. You could wear it to work with a cute blazer and then add some high heels and a clutch to go clubbing with your friends in the evening. The possibilities are endless and that's why I'm wondering why I don't own at least one of these LBDs. It actually also makes me wonder why I don't own a lot of dresses in general. I've recently bought a blue one, but that's about it. WishListItem!
