Making Memories

Everyone has obsessions or collects something. Some collect purses, some collect shoes, keychains (guilty!) and I collect sunglasses. Sort of. I have about 15 pairs of sunglasses (I prohibited myself from buying anymore about a year ago and so far so good), I wear all of them, but there is one, that I wear most of all. My favourite, a cheap-ass plastic orange pair. I've had it since 2011 and it's been through a lot with me. These sunglasses always bring up memories, which I'll be sharing with you today.

Here I was in Terschelling, the Dutch island where I bought my lovely sunnies. This was way back in 2011 as you can see and I'm just as happy with them today as I was in the picture.

Egypt was the place where I totally rocked my sunnies! I wore them for the whole trip and got a lot of comments on it. Some people loved them, others didn't seem to understand how cool my orange glasses were.

In Portugal I used my sunglasses mainly to photobomb my mother. I'm sure she loved it :P

Ahhh Germany, you were lovely! I believe I wore 6 different pairs of sunglasses during my trip in Germany, but a trip wouldn't feel complete without wearing my orange sunglasses for a minimum of one time.

This is pretty much my favorite picture of me wearing these sunglasses. Not because it has the best memories, but because it has the most emotional value. I had this picture printed on canvas and I gave it to my father on his birthday. I'll never forget how happy he looked when he unwrapped it. Just the best sunglasses ever!

This is a picture from the best vacation ever. I travelled via Paris all throughout Italy. It was awesome and I'm glad that I took my sunglasses with me to make sure the memories come back everytime I see it.

This post is not as much about the sunglasses as it is about looking back at all the fun times I had. I'm a strong believer of taking time to look back at beautiful memories. We live in a world where it is easy to take things for granted. We often complain about the things we don't have, rather than the things we do have. I've been through a couple of rough periods in my life and forcing myself to look at what I have and what good things did happen to me, made me feel a lot better.

You don't have to spend hours doing this, but I encourage you to take a few minutes each day to write down what you have, what makes you happy or what a good memory of yours is. trust me, you'll feel better.

Do you take enough time for yourself? And how do you do it?

♥ Love, Vivian
