Review: Bourjois Color Boost Lipstick

When I was shopping for a spring lipstick last week, I saw this Bourjois lipstick in the corner of my eye. It reminded me of the Clinique Chubby sticks, which made me quite happy. I'm trying to save up so my budget doesn't allow me to buy too many high end products. Reading what Bourjois promised me made me even happier. They promise: A lipstick that lasts for 10h, feels like a bare lip, feels comfortable and hydrates your lips and is waterproof. This lipstick also has SPF15. You can already sense how stoked I was. I decided to buy one in the shade '04 Peach on the Beach'. This peachy colour really gives me that spring/summery feel which makes me feel happy.  Let's test this thing!

As for packaging, it's very easy to see the colour (it corresponds pretty good). You can twist the lipstick up and down and the lipstick lays nicely in my hand. The brightly coloured plastic does give me a little bit of a childs makeup feel but it won't break very easily like child makeup does.  Conclusion: very practical.

The lipstick is called chubby, but it's actually a little thinner than most lipsticks, not much, just a tiny bit. This difference does make that you get less lipstick, 2.75g compared to the 3g of a MAC cremesheen lipstick. It is cheaper than a MAC lipstick though, €9.99 to €18.50 for a MAC lipstick.

When I swatched it, I got quite disappointed. It seemed so sheer. The upper swatch was made by going over the same spot for 3 times. You can say it's a buildable colour, which is quite nice if you look at it that way. Bourjois doesn't say anything about the intensity of the colours, the only thing they said is that it would last 10 hours. Now for the real test, applying it to my lips.

When I applied the lipstick on my lips, I noticed that it wasn't sheer at all, it was full on colour. I really like the colour and I haven't got anything like it. The lipstick feels hydrating and light. Bourjois claims that it feels like a bare lip and I can understand why. I tested it in my sink and the lipstick is also waterproof. Good job. The only thing is that is doesn't last for 10 hours. It didn't even get me through one meal. That either says something about my eating manners or about the lipstick and I'm gonna blame the lipstick.

Conclusion: Overal, I think this is a good lipstick when we compare it price-result wise. It doesn't last 10 hours like the packaging claims, but there aren't many lipsticks on the market that last 10 hours anyways. I would buy other shades of this lipstick as well.

Are you ready for spring?!

♥  Love, Vivian
